One of my favourite ads of all time is the brilliant Wieden + Kennedy’s Cravendale ad Cats With Thumbs. It was one of the Best Ads of 2011 and has been seen by 6 million-plus people on YouTube—not bad for a company that only sells milk in one country.
The brand has this week released a follow-up, ‘Catnapped’ which sees the return of the brand’s Bertrum Thumbcat and his army of clever cats with thumbs. The ad is directed by Traktor, and sees the felines kidnap and brainwash milkmen to help them get hold of all the Cravendale.
The ‘Catnapped’ ad, created by Wieden + Kennedy London, sees the return of the brand’s Bertrum Thumbcat character and his army of clever cats with thumbs.
Personally I agree with AdWeek‘s comment – “Blowing out the concept is amusing enough, even if slightly spoils the pure, unexpected simplicity of the original. Still, you can’t blame Wieden + Kennedy London for wanting to keep a good thing going.”
There is also a cute online application of the ad on Facebook, which allows you to sign up your own cat to Bertrum’s cause. Play along here.
